Public Service Examinations (PSE) give public servants a fair, transparent, and merit-based route to promotion. Passing these exams confirms that you have the knowledge, competence, and readiness required to move from one grade to the next β as outlined in your cadreβs Scheme of Service.
TPSC is proudly mandated by law to manage, coordinate, and administer all PSE nationwide, ensuring high standards, integrity, and a smooth examination experience for every candidate.

Public Service Examinations are established pursuant to the Standing Orders for the Public Service>, issued to Public Servants in accordance with Standing Order I. Further authority is provided through Circular No. C/CB.49/177/01A/46 dated 13th January 2003, issued in line with the Public Service Act, No. 8 of 2002, as amended in 2009, which mandated the Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC) to administer Public Service Examinations that were previously conducted by the Public Service Commission. In accordance with Standing Order I.3, all Public Service Examinations are to be conducted by TPSC in collaboration with institutions responsible for the respective Schemes of Service, while Standing Order I.2 assigns the College the responsibility of preparing examination syllabi in partnership with Government-recognized authorities and relevant institutions overseeing the Schemes of Service. The Tanzania Public Service College has been administering Public Service Examinations since 2003.
